In their 100-page Manifesto, Gaston and ABLP are silent about what they will do to end the U.S. visa restrictions on our passports.
The Manifesto doesn’t mention the word “visa” at all.
It never references the U.S. visa restrictions on Antigua and Barbuda passport holders. Not explicitly, and not even in oblique, identifiable terms.
It only talks generically about safeguarding passport mobility and CIP. And of all the money that it brings in.
The only hint of an issue is a bland comment about strengthening due diligence and international cooperation so Antiguan and Barbudan passport holders can continue to travel widely without new restrictions. Empty words.
Browne caused this visa hardship for all of us by lowering the nation’s CIP standards to the point of junk standards that allow bad actors from all over the world to travel freely as Antiguans and Barbudans.
He could have fixed this administratively, like Saint Kitts and Nevis has done. And like Dominica and Saint Lucia are working hard to do.
Browne called next week’s snap elections to take place two months before the July 1 deadline that the U.S. gave him to get its act together, when he could have fixed the problem months ago.
