As it presents a united front in public, ABLP leaders are squabbling behind the scenes on word that Gaston Browne is planning to appoint his wife as Deputy Prime Minister should he win on Thursday.
As Minister of Housing and Works, Maria Bird-Browne is already part of the problem plaguing the country.
ABLP candidates for parliament are furious with Browne for planning to make his wife effectively the co-ruler of Antigua and Barbuda should Labour prevail this week.
ABLP insiders say that Max Fernandes, Cutie Benjamin, Chet Greene, Melford Nicholas, Daryll Mathew, and Anthony Smith are planning to keep two-thirds of the $500,000 they received for their individual campaign.
The sources say that they were already told do not expect to be appointed a minister to run any ministry.
Political figures are concerned that a Browne & Browne government will make our country a further object of international scorn after all the corruption and nepotism scandals, and the devaluation of our passports.
Some are likening the prospect of a ruling couple to the disastrous Daniel Ortega/Rosario Murillo regime in Nicaragua.
